Commissioning a portrait is a unique way to celebrate a much-loved pet, whether as a gift, or for yourself.
My portraits of animals are made from photographic references and the best results are achieved using well lit, sharply focused images; the higher the image resolution, the better the outcome. When it is not possible to supply these or take new photographs, I can work from a variety of images to make a likeness. I always ask for photographs to be at full resolution where possible and sent by email.
All of my drawings on paper are backed onto mountboard, which allows the piece to be handled without touching the artwork. Frames are not included as framing is a specialist area in itself—for example, gutter mounts are a necessity for pastel pieces. I recommend contacting a professional framer for the highest quality finish and lasting protection of your portrait.
Finished works on paper are protected with acid free, or glassine paper (to guard against smudges) where necessary and packaged in card folders. Delivery is by Royal Mail tracked services.
I work with a variety of mediums and am happy to discuss different styles of work for the most individual, characterful result.
